PROVO, Utah — BYU men’s golf released its 2025-26 schedule on Friday as it gears up for its third season in the Big 12 Conference.
“The beginning of the year is always an exciting time,” said head coach Bruce Brockbank. “The team is excited to be together and get the season started. Some new tournaments for the fall, great courses, fabulous tournaments, and exceptional teams. Going to be a challenge for our guys because each of the golf courses we play are not familiar to our players. We’ll do our best to prepare for each event, then get out and do our best to execute. Each guy will have to step up and shoot some great scores if we’re going to be in contention to win tournaments this fall. Looking forward to watching our team compete.”
The Cougars are returning seniors Tyson Shelley, 2024 Utah Amateur medalist, and Simon Kwon, 2025 Utah Amateur runner-up, to the squad. They will bring experience and leadership to the lineup in each tournament. Juniors Peter Kim, last season’s winner at The Goodwin, and Angus Klintworth will look to be key pieces for BYU. Kevin Wu and Jackson Mauss are coming back for their sophomore seasons. Notable additions to the team this season are freshmen Parker Bunn, who redshirted his freshman year at Oklahoma State before transferring to BYU, and Kihei Akina, the 69th ranked golfer on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
“As we have moved into the Big 12, we have tried to slowly improve our strength of schedule,” said director of golf Todd Miller. “This year we have added four new events. New tournaments are always difficult because you haven’t played the course as much as some of the other teams. We are excited for the challenge. Our team has plenty of experience, so I know they can handle the level of competition. I think everyone around our program can see the momentum that we have right now, and we need to come out and show we are ready to compete from day one.”
