In the sweep of the Aggies, the Cougars hit .316 to Utah State's .258, recording six more kills than USU, five more service aces, three less service errors and two more blocks. Outside hitters Suli Daivs and Claire Little Chambers continued to lead the way, combining for 26 kills on a .318 clip.
Brielle Kemavor added eight kills, hitting .500, while Abby Hoybjerg finished with four on a .429 clip. Alex Bower posted 37 assists, also contributing two aces and two blocks. Emma Barbero tallied a trio of aces and nine digs, both match highs.
BYU took the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-19, but found itself trailing 15-7 after taking both of its timeouts amidst a 7-0 run by Utah State. The Cougars then ignited for a 9-0 run, with Hannah Billeter serving for majority of the span, that forced both of the Aggies timeouts as they neutralized the deficit.
After ties at 16 and 17, BYU pulled away on kills by Kemavor, Little Chambers and Davis to go along with a Barbero ace, earning a sixth-straight sweep and 19th-consecutive set won. The Cougars' rally-scoring era record for sets won in a row is 28, done back in 2012. Winning the opening set in Orem would place the 2025 team in a tie for eighth, while a sweep of UVU would tie them for sixth.
Remaining undefeated, BYU is one of 10 teams in the country yet to be beaten, with West Virginia the only other team in the Big 12 to not drop a match this season. The Cougars are the only 11-0 team in the nation.
BYU's 11-0 start to the 2025 season is the best since the Cougars' 2018 Final Four team, when it won 27-straight matches before finally dropping a regular season finale. 11 wins is the fifth-best start to a BYU campaign in the NCAA era, where three sets are needed to win. The top four starts are 27 (2018), 20 (2005), 15 (2012) and 13 (1987).
The Cougars now rank in the top 20 of five national statistical categories: assists per set (No. 9, 14.36), hitting percentage (No. 11, .306), kills per set (No. 11, 14.46), total assists (No. 15, 498) and total kills (No. 18, 535)
Bower moved up for fourth in the country in total assists (413) and also to sixth nationwide in assists per set, averaging 11.16. Kemavor joins Bower in the top 25, ranking No. 25 with a .427 hitting percentage. Davis is No. 30 in total kills (151), with Little Chambers just behind at No. 32 (149). The duo are both No. 33 with 168.5 points.
Concluding non-conference play in Orem, the Cougars will visit the Wolverines for the tenth time in series history on Saturday.
