PROVO, Utah — After 25 years in BYU Athletics, and 33 years at BYU, Cougar Club Director Greg Vehar has announced his retirement.
Vehar worked closely with Cougar Club members to solicit and facilitate donations, set up scholarship endowments, coordinate annual renewals and season tickets. He has also been involved in planning and executing several programs that have generated new revenue streams for the athletic department such as the Courtside and Vivint Club programs in basketball and the East Club hospitality program in football. Vehar also served on the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame committee and coordinated the annual banquet.
“Greg leaves behind a legacy of tireless commitment, supporting BYU Athletics and our loyal donors,” said Chad Lewis, BYU senior associate athletic director for development. “Throughout his tenure, his unwavering passion for helping Cougar Club members — at every level — has strengthened the foundation of generosity that fuels the dreams of our student-athletes.”
Originally from Orem, Utah, Vehar attended BYU where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in Spanish in 1993. He joined the Cougar Club staff as the assistant director in 2000 and was named director in 2020.
Prior to joining BYU Athletics, Vehar worked as a supervisor at the University Press where he oversaw the production of course material for BYU and MTC. In that role, he was involved in hiring, training and supervising employees. Vehar is married to Gayle Eddington. The couple has four children.
