NORMAN, Okla. — BYU men’s golf rank No. 12 in the updated Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches, the GCAA announced on Friday.

This is now the Cougars’ third-consecutive time making an appearance in the poll. BYU moved up five spots in the updated ranking from the one that was released on Sept. 19 where it placed No. 17. This marks the highest spot the Cougars have been in the poll this season.  

Since Sept. 19, the Cougars have finished first in The Tindall and third in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Junior Peter Kim was declared co-champion in The Tindall, and Simon Kwon posted two top 10 finishes including a tie for third at Gold Mountain Golf Club and a tie for seventh at Blessings Golf Club. Freshman Kihei Akina finished tied for sixth at The Tindall posting a 7-under par score. 

BYU was voted the third-best Big 12 team out of five in the rankings. They were alongside No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Arizona State, No. 13 Texas Tech and No. 15 Utah.
