THE COUGARS. BYU women’s soccer (8-4-2, 3-3-1 Big 12) is coming off a 3-2 win against Arizona, courtesy of Ellie Walbruch’s first career hat trick. Walbruch’s hat trick was BYU’s first three-goal performance by a single player since 2021. The Cougars tallied five assists on their three goals. Mika Krommenhoek, Mackenzee Vance, Presley Freeman, Camryn Jorgensen and Afton Perry tallied the assists.
THE BUFFALOS. No. 21 Colorado (11-2-2, 5-1-1 Big 12) has won two-straight Big 12 games against Arizona State (2-0) and Utah (2-1). Colorado’s goalkeeper Jordan Nytes earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week, and tallied six saves in the second half against Utah to secure the win. Despite the win, Utah outshot Colorado 22-10.
COUGARS VS. BUFFALOS. BYU and Colorado have faced off eight times previously, and the series is tied 3-3-2. This will be the first time the Cougars and Buffs will face off as members of the Big 12 conference. The last time the teams met was back in 2022, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
