INDIANAPOLIS – Jane Hedengren was named the USA Track & Field (USATF) Athlete of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.

The No. 3-ranked individual earned the honor after her win at last week’s Missouri Pre-Nationals, where she finished in 18:42.30 and led BYU to its third straight win of the season. Hedengren shattered the previous Gans Creek Cross Country Course course record by nearly 25 seconds. The Provo, Utah, native recorded the fastest 6,000-meter time in the NCAA this season, finishing more than 23 seconds ahead of second place.
