PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s soccer team closes out its 2025 regular season competition with a rivalry match against Utah on Thursday evening.

BYU vs. Utah

THE COUGARS. BYU women’s soccer (8-5-3, 3-4-2 Big 12) fell at UCF 2-1 in a Monday matinee showdown. The Knights went up 2-0 in the first half, sending the Cougars into halftime scoreless for the second game in a row. BYU’s Mia Lopez knocked one in with just 10 minutes left in the match, her fifth goal of the season. Mika Krommenhoek tallied her sixth assist of the year, while Abbi Sine recorded her first career assist on the Lopez goal. The Cougars outshot the Knights 20-5, with eight shots on frame compared to UCF’s three. BYU forced UCF goalkeeper Genesis Perez Watson to make seven saves to secure the clean sheet. The Cougars are in a four-way tie with Cincinnati, Houston and ASU in the Big 12 standings for eighth place. The top eight teams advance to the Big 12 Conference tournament.

THE UTES. Utah (7-9-3, 2-6-2 Big 12) has lost four-straight Big 12 matches, the last of which was a 2-0 loss to Kansas on Senior Day. The Utes have been shut out in their last three conference appearances, scoring their last goal against Colorado on Thursday, Oct. 16. Utah was outshot 15-4 against the Jayhawks, with only one shot on frame.

COUGARS VS. UTES. BYU has played Utah more than any other program in the history of women’s soccer, with 37 total matches. The Cougars hold a 27-7-3 advantage over the Utes and have not lost a matchup since 2014. Last year, the teams played on South Field in a close battle, which resulted in a 2-1 BYU win. Allie Fryer, who is redshirting this season due to injury, scored a brace in that matchup to secure the win.
