Entering its third season as a member of the Big 12, BYU will look to take the next step under first-year head coach Lee Cummard.
“We haven’t done anything in the league in the first two years," Cummard said at Big 12 Media Day. "We’ve been in a lot of close games, we’ve upset a few ranked opponents, but we’ve never won a game in the conference tournament. We’ve never finished in the top half of the league. So there are two [goals] right there that we want to strive for daily. We want to be playing late into the conference tournament and go to the NCAA Tournament as a member of the Big 12 Conference.”
BYU will open the season on Nov. 5 as the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers visit the Marriott Center for the first meeting between the two teams in women's basketball. Cummard and the Cougars will play 12 non-conference games before beginning conference play on Dec. 20 in Orlando against UCF.
