IRVING, Texas – No. 8 BYU was picked to finish third in the Big 12 men’s basketball preseason media poll released on Thursday afternoon.
The poll positions were selected by media who cover men’s college basketball and the Big 12 on a regular basis.
Coming off of a national championship game appearance, Houston was picked first, with Texas Tech and BYU next up, switching spots from the coaches’ poll released earlier this month. Arizona is picked to finish fourth, with Iowa State in fifth, while Kansas, Baylor, Kansas State, Cincinnati ant TCU round out the Top 10.
West Virginia was picked to finish 11th, followed by Oklahoma State, Utah, UCF, Colorado and Arizona State.
No. 8 BYU opens the 2025-26 season on Monday, Nov. 3, against Villanova in the Hall of Fame Series Las Vegas. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Arena.
