NEW ORLEANS – Jane Hedengren was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women’s Athlete of the Week on Monday for the second time this season after her performance at last week’s Big 12 Championships.

Behind her individual title, the freshman led the team to its third straight Big 12 championship. Hedengren clocked an 18:29.60, the fastest 6,000-meter time in Big 12 championship history by more than 30 seconds. The Provo, Utah native also finished more than 44 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

The National Girls Gatorade Player of the Year is the first BYU women’s athlete to receive the award twice.
