PROVO, Utah — Australia native Vahayliah Seumanutafa has signed with BYU women’s basketball, head coach Lee Cummard announced Friday.
“Vahayliah is a hard-working point guard who is tenacious on the defensive end and a very good playmaker offensively,” Cummard said. “She has an innate competitive nature, which our coaching staff loves to see.”
Seumanutafa is a 5-foot-10 guard from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and will be the first member of her family to attend college.
She competed for Queensland’s U16 and U18 state teams in 2021, 2022 and 2024. On July 3, 2022, she recorded 35 points, eight rebounds, five steals and two assists in a standout performance. She averaged 25.2 points per game at the 2024 Basketball Queensland State Championships, earning selection to the U19 Australian World Cup squad.
This summer, Seumanutafa played for the Logan Thunder in NBL1 North, Australia’s premier women’s basketball league, averaging 6.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.0 steal per game.
“V is someone who plays the game the right way and wants to be part of something great here at BYU,” Cummard added.
