With the score 19-12, Kansas had its most successful run of the opening set with four straight points, but was unable to fully close the gap as BYU retook momentum with a finishing 6-1 run. The last three points all came off kills from Davis to take the set, 25-17.

At 14-9, the set turned into a series of small swings. Kansas put together three quick points, BYU answered with a three point burst of its own and Kansas matched it again to keep the set close.
Late in the second set, BYU led 19-16 and, like the end of the first, took control by finishing on a 6-2 run with a pair of kills from both Little Chambers and Sophia Callahan.
The set would be the only set to feature any tie scores, with five ties and three lead changes.

What became a theme for the evening, BYU opened the third set strong, capitalizing early on back-to back-kills by Davis that sparked a 7-2 advantage.
With the score 9-6 for the Cougars, each team exchanged points consecutively until Kansas broke the pattern with consecutive points to make it 15-13. Following a 4-1 run by BYU, with a pair of service aces from Little Chambers and Mortensen, as well as two errors from the Jayhawks, BYU had strong footing with a 19-14 advantage.
A comeback effort by Kansas with a 4-1 run of its own made it 20-18, but the Cougars countered with a finishing 5-2 run on two kills from Davis and the final blow coming from Little Chambers off an assist from Hannah Billeter.
