PROVO, Utah — Backed by a .416 hitting percentage, its highest in Big 12 play, No. 25 BYU women's volleyball swept No. 13 Kansas (25-17, 25-18, 25-20) at the Smith Fieldhouse on Friday night.

With the victory, the Cougars (20-8, 8-8 Big 12) went 2-0 in conference play on the week for the first time this season, also picking up their fourth sweep over a Big 12 opponent.

BYU held the Jayhawks to a .276 percentage on the night while hitting its second-highest clip of the year, at .416.

Both teams had 40 kills, but the Cougars' had eight attack errors to KU's 16, recorded six more aces (7-1), five less service errors (11-6) and four more blocks (7-3).

Suli Davis took charge with her team-leading eighth double-double of the season, contributing on both sides of the ball with 15 kills, ten digs, and a .462 hitting percentage.

Claire Little Chambers added a 13 kills of her own on a .522 clip. Alex Bower dished out 30 assists, also contributing three kills and three blocks.

Elena Wallace finished with a match-high four blocks. Elli Mortensen and Lulu Uluave both had two aces apiece.

Set 1
BYU took quick control of the first set with a 6-2 lead after a pair of Kansas errors opened the game, followed by kills from Davis.

After some back-and-forth play that made the score 10-8 in favor of BYU, the Cougars went on a 7-2 run highlighted by three straight blocks — a solo from Bower and then Wallace assisting on back-to-back blocks with Bower and Davis.

With the score 19-12, Kansas had its most successful run of the opening set with four straight points, but was unable to fully close the gap as BYU retook momentum with a finishing 6-1 run. The last three points all came off kills from Davis to take the set, 25-17.

Set 2
After Kansas got its first lead of the night, BYU picked up where it left off in the opening set by going on a 4-1 run to take back control and play out in front early.

With the score 7-6 in favor of the Cougars, they went on their first five-point run of the game with kills from Bower, Little Chambers, and Brielle Kemavor, followed by a service ace by Mortensen.

At 14-9, the set turned into a series of small swings. Kansas put together three quick points, BYU answered with a three point burst of its own and Kansas matched it again to keep the set close.

Late in the second set, BYU led 19-16 and, like the end of the first, took control by finishing on a 6-2 run with a pair of kills from both Little Chambers and Sophia Callahan.

The set would be the only set to feature any tie scores, with five ties and three lead changes.

Set 3
What became a theme for the evening, BYU opened the third set strong, capitalizing early on back-to back-kills by Davis that sparked a 7-2 advantage.

With the score 9-6 for the Cougars, each team exchanged points consecutively until Kansas broke the pattern with consecutive points to make it 15-13. Following a 4-1 run by BYU, with a pair of service aces from Little Chambers and Mortensen, as well as two errors from the Jayhawks, BYU had strong footing with a 19-14 advantage.

A comeback effort by Kansas with a 4-1 run of its own made it 20-18, but the Cougars countered with a finishing 5-2 run on two kills from Davis and the final blow coming from Little Chambers off an assist from Hannah Billeter.
