GREENSBORO, NC - BYU women’s swim took sixth following the conclusion of the Wolfpack Elite Invite on Saturday.

Prelims
Lucy Warnick kicked off the first event of the third and final day of competition with a fourth-place finish in the 200 individual medley. She finished in 2:00.72, improving her time and standing as the fifth-fastest performer in BYU history in that event. She would improve that time again in finals later in the competition.

Next up was the 100 freestyle, where Haylee Tiffany led BYU with a 17th-place finish at 49.99. Four other BYU athletes also competed in the event.

Lucy Marek finished highest for the Cougars in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:02.82, earning her ninth place. Sarah Eliason followed in 12th and Elle Decker in 19th.

The concluding event of the women’s prelims was the 200 backstroke, where Katya Hulse and Emma Marusakova competed. Hulse finished in 2:00.90 and Marusakova in 2:01.11. Both times were fast enough for the two to compete in finals.

Finals
Finals began with the 1,650 freestyle. Victoria Schreiber took the top spot among the Cougars at 16:59.56, earning her 15th overall.

Warnick competed in the 200 individual medley finals, improving on her preliminary time with a 2:00.52. The improvement secured her a third-place finish, the highest of any BYU swimmer for the day.

The final women’s event at the Wolfpack Elite Invite was the 400 freestyle relay, where the BYU A team — composed of Eliason, Taylor Bennett, Schreiber and Tiffany — finished ninth in 3:22.41. The B and C teams also competed, earning times of 3:26.72 and 3:37.09.

BYU finished the meet in sixth with a total score of 582.
