NEW ORLEANS – After leading her team to a conference title and a runner-up finish at the NCAA National Championship, women’s cross country head coach Diljeet Taylor was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mountain Region Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year on Tuesday afternoon.

This award marks the fourth time Taylor has received the regional honor (2019, 2020-21, 2024 and 2025).

Taylor led her women to four team wins and two runner-up finishes this season. Through its first four meets, BYU scored 40 points or fewer in each to take first place.

Last weekend, the Cougars finished runner-up with 130 points at the NCAA National Championship. Jane Hedengren and Riley Chamberlain each earned All-American honors. Taylor has now coached 10 athletes to a combined 21 All-America recognitions.

For the third-straight season, BYU won the Big 12 Championship. Hedengren also became Taylor’s first individual champion at the event. Taylor coached five Cougars to All-Big 12 status: Hedengren, Chamberlain, Nelah Roberts, Taylor Lovell and Zariel Macchia.

At BYU, Taylor has coached the Cougars to two national championships (2020-21, 2024), Whittni Orton to an individual NCAA title (2021) and her cross country squads to 34 meet wins.
