BOULDER, Colo. — Three Cougars posted double-doubles in No. 24 BYU women’s volleyball’s four-set win at No. 23 Colorado (25-22, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20) in the CU Events Center on Saturday afternoon.

BOX SCORE

In their fourth win over a ranked opponent this year, the Cougars (22-8, 10-8 Big 12) received double-double efforts from Claire Little Chambers, Suli Davis and Alex Bower, their first match this season with a trio of double-doubles in the same match.

Little Chambers finished with 18 kills and 11 digs, while Davis’ team-leading ninth double-double of the season came on 16 kills and 11 digs. Bower recorded 43 assists and 10 digs, while Kemavor added 10 kills, her eighth match this year with double-digit kills, to go along with nine blocks, a season high.

BYU out-hit Colorado .244 to .153, also tallying eight more kills (56-48) and six more digs (49-43). Both teams had 11 blocks. The Buffaloes had one more ace (5-4) and five less service errors (10-5).

Set 1
After taking the opening point on a Brielle Kemavor kill, Colorado scored five in a row, forcing an early BYU timeout. The Cougars responded with a 3-0 run that featured a Kemavor-Suli Davis double block and Claire Little Chambers ace before the two teams began trading points.

Another 3-0 span from BYU, fueled by a Little Chambers-Kemavor stuff then put the Cougars in front, 11-9. Going back-and-forth from there, Davis and Sophia Callahan paced a third 3-0 run that had BYU leading 18-16.

Tied at 19, the Cougars took a 22-19 advantage, spanning the Buffs’ first timeout. BYU took its second timeout at 23-22, and after a Little Chambers tip kill and second CU timeout, Kemavor and Alex Bower combined for a block and the 25-22 win.

Set 2
Trailing 5-1 for the second-consecutive set, the Cougars called timeout. The Buffaloes made it 7-1 before a pair of Little Chambers kills and Colorado errors had BYU down 8-5.

Davis, Elena Wallace and Kemavor each scored as the Cougars tried to keep pace, with consecutive Bower-Kemavor double blocks making it 13-11, CU. Kemavor, Davis, Wallace and Little Chambers all recorded kills before a Kemavor-Callahan double block tied the set at 18, forcing a Buffs’ timeout.

Colorado took four of the next five points from there, and BYU took its second timeout down 22-19. Little Chambers stopped a 4-0 Buffalo run with a kill, but Colorado would close out the set, 25-20.

Set 3
The third set began in similar fashion as the Cougars called timeout trailing 7-4. BYU flipped the script with a 5-0 run, fueled by a Little Chambers ace, Bower-Kemavor block, and Davis kill, tying the set at 12 and forcing a CU timeout.

A 4-0 run that spanned the Buffs’ second timeout was capped off by a Davis ace and put the Cougars in front, 20-17. Callahan, Little Chambers and Bower each tallied kills down the stretch, with Little Chambers tooling the block for a 25-20 set win.

Set 4
Both teams went on 3-0 runs as the fourth frame saw an early 6-6 tie. BYU scored four straight, including an Elli Mortensen ace, that gave the Cougars an 11-9 lead, forcing a Colorado timeout.

After a CU point out of the timeout, BYU went on another 4-0 run, capped off by a Kemavor solo block for a 15-10 advantage, where the Buffaloes used their second timeout.

Davis and Bower kept the Cougars in front, but BYU took its first timeout at 19-18. After ties at 19 and 20, the Cougars closed the match on a 5-0 run with kills from Little Chambers and Davis before Kemavor and Bower sealed the victory with a double block, 25-20.
