PROVO, Utah — BYU remained at No. 11 in the penultimate release of the 2025 College Football Playoff rankings revealed Tuesday by the CFP selection committee.

The Cougars (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) defeated UCF by a 41-21 tally on Saturday to finish the regular season with 11 victories for just the seventh time in program history and mark the 14th season overall they have recorded 11 or more wins when also including postseason play. It is the third season under head coach Kalani Sitake that BYU has posted 11 wins, somthing also achieved last season at 11-2 and in 2020 at 11-1. BYU’s 20-point victory on Saturday marked the Cougars’ eighth double-digit win, and third in a row, this season and produced the team's fifth victory by 20 or more points.

BYU remains just outside the top 10, however, where it previously spent the past two weeks in College Football Playoff rankings. The Cougars have been ranked No. 7, No. 12, No. 11, No. 11 and No. 11 in the five CFP rankings this season. During the first year of the 12-team playoff last season, the Cougars were ranked in all six CFP rankings released, receiving rankings of No. 9, No. 6, No. 14, No. 19, No. 18 and No. 17. 

On Sunday, BYU received a No. 11 ranking for the third consecutive week in both The Associated Press Top 25 and AFCA Coaches Poll.

CFP Top 25
Undefeated Ohio State (12-0) maintained its No. 1 on Tuesday, followed by fellow unbeaten Indiana (12-0) at No. 2.  Texas A&M (11-1) fell four places after its first loss of the year to No. 7, with previoys No. 4 Georgia (11-1) moving up one to No. 3, followed by No. 4 Texas Tech (11-1), No. 5 Oregon (11-1) and No. 6 Ole Miss (11-1), all up one ranking from last week. After Texas A&M, Oklahoma (10-2) is ranked No. 8, followed No. 9 Alabama (10-2), who flip-flopped spots with now No. 10 Notre Dame (10-2). 

After the Cougars at No. 11, the rest of the top 25 includes No. 12 Miami (10-2), No. 13 Texas (9-3), No. 14 Vanderbilt (10-2), No. 15 Utah (10-2), No. 16 USC (9-3), No. 17 Virginia (10-2), No. 18 Arizona (9-3), No. 19 Michigan (9-3), No. 20 Tulane (10-2), No. 21 Houston (9-3), No. 22 Georgia Tech (9-3), No. 23 Iowa (8-4), No. 24  North Texas (11-1) and No. 25 James Madison (11-1). Arizona made the most movement from the prior week, jumping seven places after defeating previous No. 20 Arizona State. Utah, meanwhile, fell two places and Michigan four spots.  

BYU has wins this year over No. 15 Utah and No. 18 Arizona with its lone loss on the road at No. 5 Texas Tech. Overall, this week's CFP rankings included seven teams from the SEC, six from the BIg Ten, five from the Big 12, three from the ACC, two from the American and one each from the Sun Belt and FBS Independents. 

Big 12
The Big 12 has five teams in the CFP rankings for the third straight week, with Texas Tech at No. 4, BYU at No. 12, Utah at No. 15, Arizona at No. 18 and Houston at No. 21. Houston joined the rankings this week as Arizona State dropped out. 

BYU and Texas Tech will meet on Saturday after the two programs tied atop the conference standings at 8-1 to earn spots in the 2025 Edward Jones Big 12 Football Championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Last year BYU finished in a four-way first-place tie at 7-2 but didn't advance to the championship due to tiebreakers.

The Cougars were perfect at home this season in LaVell Edwards Stadium with wins over Portland State (69-0), Stanford (27-3), West Virginia (38-24), No. 15 Utah (24-21), TCU (44-13) and UCF (41-21).

BYU finished the regular season 5-1 on the road with wins at East Carolina (34-13), Colorado (24-21), No. 18 Arizona (33-27 2OT), Iowa State (41-27) and Cincinnati (26-14) with a lone setback at No. 4 Texas Tech (29-7).
