BYU men's tennis finishes their road trip perfect with a 6-1 win at Lehigh

The Cougars beat Lehigh in Pennsylvania 6-1 to finish their four-match road trip 4-0. They improve to 6-1 on the season marking their best start through seven matches since 2018.

BETHLEHEM, Penn. – BYU men’s tennis finished their East Coast road trip with a 6-1 win at Lehigh University on Saturday, Feb. 8.

“It was a really good East Coast trip for the team,” head coach Zack Warren said. “We continued to play cleaner tennis throughout the week. We were definitely challenged today by a tough Lehigh team, they were gritty and had a terrific crowd on hand, fortunately, we executed well under pressure and found a way to come out on top.”

The Cougars dropped just one singles match on the day and came out with the doubles point.

With BYU’s win over the Mountain Hawks, it finished its trip 4-0. The Cougars beat Lehigh and Binghamton 6-1 and picked up their first two sweeps of the season against Villanova and Wagner. They had just two singles losses and one doubles set loss through the week.

BYU went into the road trip 2-1 after winning its only home match and splitting road matches at Oregon. The Cougars have now improved to 6-1 on the season marking their best start to a season in the last seven years.

“We’re excited to come back home with four wins and begin preparing for our home match on Saturday against Idaho State,” Warren said. “Special thanks to our BYU fans on the East Coast who flew in and drove several hours to see us compete.”
