THE COUGARS. No. 23 BYU earned a third-place finish at the Best of Utah competition at the Maverik Center on Monday night. The Cougars improved their scores on vault, beam and floor, as well as their overall team total, from their season-opening meet, posting a season-high 195.725. The Cougars are looking forward to welcoming another strong program to the Marriott Center on Friday night following a home opener that drew 4,002 fans, the fifth-highest attendance total in program history. BYU will face Boise State for the 86th time in program history on Friday evening at the Marriott Center. The Cougars hold a 47-37-1 series advantage over the Broncos. The teams last met in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Regionals, tying at 195.750. BYU advanced to the second day of regionals after winning the tiebreaker, 233.650-233.400.
THE BRONCOS. Boise State has competed just once so far this season, taking on the SUU Thunderbirds in Cedar City on Friday, Jan. 9. The Broncos lost their season opener 195.675-194.300. The Broncos’ strongest event was vault, where they tied SUU’s score of 48.775. Junior Julia Krzywanski led Boise State with a second-place finish on vault, scoring a 9.825 on the apparatus.
