IRVING, Texas – BYU's Lucy Warnick was named the Big 12 women’s swimmer of the week, the conference announced Thursday.
Warnick earned her third nomination and first selection as the Big 12’s swimmer of the week this season following her performance at Denver this past Saturday.
Warnick set a new personal best in the 100 breaststroke event, where she took first place at 1:01.70. The performance also marks the seventh-fastest finish in BYU history in the event.
She also earned a season-best finish in the 200 breaststroke at 2:13.73 and finished first in the 200 individual medley, hitting the wall at 2:01.62. Additionally, she competed in the 200 medley relay, swimming the breaststroke split at 28.19 and leading her relay squad to a second-place finish.
Warnick, with the rest of the BYU swim and dive teams, is set to compete this weekend in Tempe, Ariz., for the Big 12 West Championship meet, where they will take on four other conference foes in a preview of championship season later this year.
