PROVO, Utah – The BYU men’s tennis team begins its 2026 campaign on Saturday when it welcomes the Weber State Wildcats at noon.

Other than Utah, there is no program the Cougars have faced more, owning a 68-5 record against the Wildcats, including a 6-1 home-opening victory last season.

Saturday’s match marks head coach Zack Warren’s third season leading the Cougars. He currently holds a 23-21 record at BYU.

Since going 6-16 during the 2023 season, the Cougars have improved in each of the following seasons as a member of the Big 12, posting records of 11-11 and 12-10. The latter earned BYU its first winning season since finishing 14-6 in 2021.

This season, the Cougars’ roster consists of three seniors, four juniors, one sophomore and three freshmen, including recent signee Yubel Ubri.

During the fall season, BYU’s most dominant singles player was Otto Schreiner, who posted an 8-2 record. Schreiner also earned a berth in the NCAA tournament alongside Adam Chodur after the duo won the ITA Regional championship against Utah.

The Cougars hope to carry over that success against Weber State, which went 9-12 last season and finished fifth in the Big Sky Conference.

Throughout fall play, BYU matched up with Weber State on four occasions, going 2-1 in singles and 1-0 in doubles.
