TEMPE, Ariz. - BYU swim and dive sits in fifth place following the first day of competition hosted by Arizona State.

Swimming
Sarah Eliason kicked things off for BYU with a fourth-place performance in the 100 butterfly, hitting the wall at 54.62. Lucy Warnick then secured a second-place finish in the 400 individual medley, finishing at 4:20.91.
Haylee Tiffany added another fourth-place performance for the Cougars, finishing the 200 freestyle at 1:49.75.
Warnick grabbed a fifth-place finish at 1:02.38 in the 100 breaststroke, and the A team concluded the morning’s competition with a third-place performance in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:31.17.
Freshman Ella Glass opened the evening’s events with a fifth-place finish in the 100 backstroke, hitting the wall at 56.94. Warnick then obtained another high placement, earning a fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke at 2:15.36.
Victoria Schreiber took fourth in the 500 freestyle at 4:55.00, and Lily Flint closed out individual competition with a 23.06 finish in the 50 freestyle, the eighth-fastest time in BYU history. It would be the sole top 10 BYU performance in Friday’s events.
Diving
Women’s diving included the 3-meter event, where Sophia DeBergh led the Cougars in sixth with a score of 251.55. Freshmen Brooklyn Goeckeritz and Betty Martin also competed, earning 13th and 16th.
