PROVO, Utah – BYU Athletics is ranked No. 4 in the nation in the 2025 Learfield College Directors’ Cup Final Division I Fall Standings released on Thursday.
BYU has finished in the top-10 of the fall standings in seven consecutive years of competition and in the top-five in six of the past eight seasons. BYU was No. 1 in the fall standings for the first time in the history of the Directors' Cup in 2021.
The Directors' Cup annually ranks college athletic programs around the country by awarding points based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships. Preliminary standings are released following the fall and winter athletic seasons and lead up to the release of a final ranking following the spring season.
BYU’s finish in the fall standings ranks the Cougars among some of the nation’s best collegiate athletic programs.
The Cougars’ fall sports combined to generate 309.50 points. Women's cross country recorded 90 points, the most points of any BYU fall sports, following a national-runner-up finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Women's soccer earned 64 points after a Sweet 16 run, men's cross country picked up 66 points with an 11th-place finish at nationals, football finished No. 12 and earned 64.5 points and women's volleyball made the postseason for the 14th consecutive year, earning 25 points.
The winter Directors' Cup rankings will be released in April.
