PHILADELPHIA – Ben Barton took first in the Heptathlon, scoring 5818 points over the first two days of competition at the Penn Elite Invite.
The Senior from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, recorded the third-highest score of his collegiate career in the event behind his second-place finish at the 2025 Big 12 Indoor Championships and his fourth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championships. His victory included first-place finishes in the 60-meter, high jump and 60-meter hurdles.
Barton, an All-American, was joined by sophomore teammates Jaden Roskelley and Kaden Passey, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Roskelley recorded the second-best score of his career with 5598 points. The Arlington, Washington native took first in the heptathlon long jump while setting a personal-best mark of 7.35m/24-1.5. He also set a personal record in the shot put with a mark of 13.91m/45-7.75.
Passey recorded a personal-best 5090 points, beating his previous record set at the BYU December Invite last month in his fifth-place finish. The Surprise, Arizona native won the heptathlon 1000-meter, crossing the line in a personal-best 2:34.41. He also set a personal record in the high jump with a mark of 1.77m/5-9.75.
