PHILADELPHIA – Brayden Packard set the No. 9 all-time BYU record in the 800-meter, Carter Walker and Silas Zimmerman took first in the high jump and pole vault at Penn Elite Indoor Invite Saturday afternoon.

Packard, a sophomore from Yakima, Washington, finished fourth in the 800-meter coming across the line in 1:49.07, putting him at No. 9 all-time at BYU in the indoor 800m, just ahead of Marcus Dickson’s 1:49.10 finish in 2016. This marks Packard’s first time breaking 1:50 in either indoor or outdoor track. Jake Orr, competing alongside Packard, finished in 1:49.89 to take fifth overall in his first collegiate performance in the event.

Carter Walker took first overall in the high jump hitting a new personal-record height of 2.05m/6-8.75. The sophomore from Orem cleared the winning height on his final attempt. Sophomore teammate Hayden Gribble competed alongside Walker clearing a personal record 2.00m/6-6.75 and tying for third overall.

Silas Zimmerman cleared a personal-record 5.14m/16-10.25 in the pole vault on his way to a first place finish. The Freshman cleared the winning height on his second attempt. Dallin Thornton tied for third with a height of 5.04m/16-6.5.

All-American Jonah Heimuli finished second overall in the 400-meter with a time of 47.57. Heimuli represented the sprints group alongside teammate Brayden Dahl, who set a new personal record in the 60-meter dash finishing in 6.85 seconds and taking fifth overall. The Junior from Gilbert, Arizona also set a personal best time in the 200-meter finishing in 21.64 and taking ninth.

Tyler Poole set a new personal record and finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 16.63m/54-6.75. Peyton Williams took fifth posting a mark of 16.60m/54-5.50. Williams, a sophomore from Saint George, also set a personal record in the weight throw while taking fourth overall with a throw of 17.86m/58-7.25.

Max Davis competed in the 3000-meter finishing in a personal-record time of 7:56.66 and taking eighth.
