PROVO, Utah – BYU’s AJ Dybantsa was named the Naismith Player of the Week following his record-breaking performance against Utah on Saturday.
The 6-foot-9 freshman scored a BYU freshman record 43 points in BYU’s 91-78 victory over Utah at the Marriott Center going 15-of-24 from the field, 4-of-5 from three and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. It is also the eighth-most points scored in a game in program history.

With his third 30-point performance of the campaign, Dybantsa also broke the freshman record for 30-point performances in a season. Through 19 games, he has scored 448 points which puts him fourth on the freshman scoring list.
Dybantsa and the Cougars host No. 1 Arizona tonight at the Marriott Center. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
