COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — BYU dive wrapped up day one of the Air Force Invite at the Cadet Natatorium Thursday.
On the men’s side, sophomore Martí Llop led BYU with a second-place finish in the 3m event. In the preliminary round, Llop scored a 368.80. In the finals, he improved once again, claiming a 378.85 on an 18.50 degree of difficulty, earning a collegiate personal best.
Ashton Sparks claimed a score of 290.05 in the preliminary round, placing 10th and earning a spot in the final round. In the finals, the freshman would score 260.85 on a 19.00 degree of difficulty, placing in 12th. Elijah Baker also competed, placing 18th at 249.35 on 16.50 degree of difficulty.
Brooklyn Goeckeritz led BYU on the women’s team, taking fifth in the 1m event. The freshman earned a 249.30 in prelims and later scored a 252.60 on a 14.40 degree of difficulty in the final round.
Aubryn Ordyna, Sophia DeBergh and Betty Martin all competed in the preliminary round as well. Ordyna took 17th with 215.10 and DeBergh placed 21st with a score of 210.05. Martin finished in 28th at 196.05.
