B12 Weekly Award-Edelfsen, Tyler

IRVING, Texas – Tyler Edlefsen was named the men’s Big 12 swimmer of the week, the conference announced Thursday.

Edlefsen’s award comes off a stellar performance in Honolulu against Hawaii, where he set two DKAC records and a top-10 all-time BYU finish.

The Las Vegas native’s records came in the 200 individual medley and the 200 breaststroke, posting times of 1:46.61 in the individual medley and 1:57.05 in the breaststroke. He also competed in the 50 breaststroke, where he finished fourth at 25.55, a personal best.

His 200 breaststroke performance marks the ninth-fastest finish in the event in BYU history and his fourth top-10 all-time performance with the Cougars.

Alongside his teammates, he will compete this weekend against Denver at the El Pomar Natatorium in Grand Junction, Colo.
