CUMBERLAND, R.I. - The Cougars (7-0) continued their historic start of the season with back-to-back wins over Boston University (1-5) and then Holy Cross (1-5) Thursday afternoon. This improves BYU's record to 7-0 with a chance to go 8-0 for the first time since 2010 when they face Boston College (2-1) on Friday.

Wednesday vs. Boston University

In doubles, the Cougars gained momentum quickly with decisive victories on courts one and three, led by the familiar pair of Adam Chodur and Otto Schreiner. The duo used their longstanding chemistry to clinch a 6-3 win, followed by Tygen Goldammer and TJ Wells, who earned their second straight win with a commanding 6-1 victory. With the two wins secured, court No. 2 went unfinished, where Hardy Owen and Alex Edmonston were leading 5-4.

Singles play followed a similar pattern, with straight-set wins from Chodur, Goldammer and Caden Hasler, who earned a pair of 6-3 set victories. This gave BYU its first sweep of the season and handed the Terriers their fifth straight loss.

Thursday vs. Holy Cross

In Rhode Island, BYU relied on the same doubles pairings as the previous day to earn the opening point. Chodur and Schreiner secured a 6-4 win, while Goldammer and Wells followed with another 6-1 victory. Hasler and Edmonston fell 7-6 in a tiebreaker.

Leading 1-0, the Cougars continued their strong singles run this season, sweeping five of the six courts. BYU clinched two tight opening sets, with Chodur and H. Owen earning close first-set wins before closing out their matches in straight sets.

With the match already decided and BYU leading 6-0, the closest contest came on court No. 6, where Schreiner competed in singles for the second time this season. After winning the opening set 6-3, he dropped the second-set tiebreaker, marking BYU’s first third-set singles match since Wednesday. Schreiner ultimately clinched his first singles win since 2022 with a 10-6 super tiebreaker victory in his second singles appearance in four years.
