IRVING, Texas - Riley Chamberlain earned Big 12 Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors after her record-breaking performance in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, the conference announced Wednesday.
Chamberlain received the recognition after posting the NCAA’s fastest indoor mile time this season, running 4:20.61 and surpassing the previous record by 2.85 seconds. In her season-opening mile, she also shaved 5.58 seconds off her own school record. The senior placed second overall behind New Balance professional Elle St. Pierre.
