Gibb had her signature performance on Saturday on the road against Utah as she bested her previous career high of 36 points, which came in a loss at Utah a year ago, with 37 points in an 86-74 win over the arch-rival Utes. Gibb rounded out the career day with five assists, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks to will the Cougars to a much-needed win.
The native of Raymond, Alberta, Canada shot a blistering 13-of-21 (61.9%) from the floor and went 5-for-8 (62.5%) from downtown in the win. The sophomore standout is just the third BYU player in the past decade to score over 35 points in a game, doing so twice in two seasons, both on the road at Utah.
The 5-foot-10 guard led the Big 12 in scoring this week with 28.5 points on 66.7 percent shooting from three, also leading the league (min. 10 attempts), 52.9 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the charity stripe. Gibb also dropped 4.5 dimes and recorded 2.5 steals per contest, both top-10 marks in the Big 12 for the week. She also tallied 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 coming on the offensive glass, and a full block per game.
With this week's 20 and 37 point outings, Gibb has moved into seventh on the all-time BYU scoring list at 17.32 points per game, passing 11-year WNBA veteran Erin Thorn (16.23). She also moved into 16th on the all-time 3-point field goals made list with 120, passing two-time WCC Player of the Year and former Texas guard Shaylee Gonzales (114). Gibb also increased her 3-point field goals per game (2.40) average and career 3-point percentage (36.1%), moving her into second and 14th, respectively. Finally, Gibb slid into sixth on the career assists per game list, averaging 4.20 dimes, again passing Gonzales for sixth place.
