FULLERTON, Calif. — BYU softball dropped a 4-0 content to Seattle in the Judi Garman Classic at Anderson Family Field on Friday morning.

The Cougars (4-13, 0-0 Big 12) left six runners on base, including three in scoring position, in the loss.

Player Highlights

BYU had one base runner in each of the first three innings, and put two on in the fourth frame but were unable to score.

Starter Jada Villegas retired Seattle’s batters in order in the second and third but the Redhawks picked up their first hits of the contest in the fourth with a pair of bloop singles, another up the middle and a sacrifice fly to score the game’s first runs and take a 3-0 lead.

The Cougars again put a runner on in the fifth but grounded and popped out to end the inning.

SU added an insurance run in the fifth on a bunt single, failed pickoff attempt and single up the middle to go in front, 4-0.

BYU went down in order in both the sixth and seventh innings, unable to break the shutout.
