GREENSBORO, N.C. – BYU’s Lucy Warnick took bronze Thursday, finishing the 400 individual medley at 4:15.78 on the third day of competition at the Big 12 Championship.

Sophomores Sarah Eliason and Lucy Marek also stood out for BYU on Thursday, earning two new top-10 BYU performances in the 100 butterfly. Both swimmers earned their records in the bonus round of finals, with Eliason hitting the wall at 53.62 and Marek finishing at 54.03, marking the third- and sixth-fastest times in program history.
Prelims
Day three of the Big 12 Championship opened with the 100 butterfly, where Eliason and Marek qualified for finals. Eliason took 11th, hitting the wall at 54.07, while Marek took 20th at 54.77.
The 400 individual medley followed, with Warnick qualifying for finals thanks to her fourth-place finish. She earned a time of 4:17.06, securing her spot in the championship final event.
The concluding individual event of Thursday’s prelims was the 200 freestyle, where Haylee Tiffany led BYU in 15th at 1:48.32, qualifying for finals. Tatum Cooley and Victoria Schreiber also qualified for finals, with Cooley earning 18th at 1:48.78 and Schreiber taking 21st at 1:49.05.
Finals
Finals began with the 100 butterfly, where Marek secured a first-place finish in the bonus round at 54.03, marking the sixth-fastest 100 butterfly time in BYU history. Eliason swam in the consolation round, taking second at 53.62, the third-fastest performance in program history.
Warnick earned her third-place finish in the 400 individual medley next, hitting the wall at 4:15.78. Her performance marks the team’s first top-three finish of the postseason meet.
The 200 freestyle wrapped up individual events for finals, where Cooley (1:48.48) and Schreiber (1:49.27) took second and seventh in the bonus round. Tiffany also competed in finals, taking fourth in the consolation round at 1:48.06.
Finals ended with the 400 medley relay event, where BYU, represented by Emma Marusakova, Warnick, Eliason and Tiffany, took 10th at 3:41.51.
Diving
The Cougars competed in the 3-meter discipline, with Aubryn Ordyna taking 24th at 237.65. She was followed by Sophia DeBergh in 28th with a score of 229.55. Freshman Brooklyn Goeckeritz competed as well, taking 33rd at 212.35.
No BYU divers qualified for finals.
