GREENSBORO, N.C. – BYU saw a new 200 freestyle relay record set at 1:30.35 on the fourth day of competition at the Big 12 Championship.
Taylor Bennett, Tatum Cooley, Lily Flint and Sophie Scoville earned fourth in the event, hitting the wall at 1:30.35 and besting their previous record they set against Utah earlier in the season.

BYU also set two new individual top-10 program finishes, with both coming in finals. Lucy Marek, a sophomore, finished the 200 butterfly at 2:00.20, giving her second in the consolation round of finals and moving her to third all-time in the event. Katya Hulse earned a first-place finish in the bonus round of the 100 back at 54.38, marking the sixth-fastest performance in Cougars history.
Prelims
Marek opened things up for the Cougars on the fourth day of competition, qualifying for finals in the 200 butterfly. Her finish at 2:01.73 put her in 14th, securing her spot in the consolation round of finals.
The 100 breaststroke followed, where BYU’s sole representation in the event came from Maddie Johnson, who took 34th at 1:04.73.
Prelims concluded with the 100 backstroke, where Katya Hulse and Emma Marusakova earned spots in finals. Marusakova took 13th with a finishing time of 54.50. Hulse followed in 17th, hitting the wall at 54.85.
Finals
Finals began with Marek setting a new BYU top-10 time in the 200 butterfly as she took second in the consolation round. Her time of 2:00.20 marks the third-fastest performance in program history in the event.
Hulse followed with another BYU top-10 finish, this time in the 100 back, where she took first in the bonus round. The senior finished the event at 54.38, the sixth-fastest performance all-time for the Cougars. Marusakova then earned fifth in the consolation round, hitting the wall at 54.04.
The final event of Friday’s competition featured a new school record in the 200 freestyle relay. Bennett, Cooley, Flint and Scoville closed out the day strong, finishing the event at 1:30.35, earning fourth and topping their previous record set this season against Utah.
Diving
Women’s diving did not compete Friday but will return to the pool Saturday for the platform event, the concluding diving event at the 2026 Big 12 Championship.
