PROVO, Utah – BYU’s Richie Saunders was named to the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Mid Season Top 10 list on Tuesday morning.
BYU is one of four schools to have a player on both the men’s and women’s shooting guard of the year Top 10 lists with Delaney Gibb being named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award.

Saunders enters the week averaging 19.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50.2 percent from the field, 39.6 percent from three and 82.0 percent from the free throw line. He has scored in double figures 19 times including in 12 straight games highlighted by a career-high 33 points at No. 14 Kansas on Saturday where he became just the sixth Cougar since 2008 to have a 30-10 performance.

With his six 3-pointers on Saturday, the senior became the first Cougar since Jake Toolson in 2020 to knock down 25 or more 3-pointers in a month. He also became the 19th player in program history to score 1,500 points.
