LUBBOCK, Texas – BYU finished runner-up in the Big 12 Championships behind titles from Jane Hedengren, Riley Chamberlain and the 4x400-meter relay team Saturday at the Sports Performance Center.
The Cougars totaled 110 points, just behind Texas Tech’s 114.5. It marked BYU’s highest point total at the indoor championship since joining the Big 12. Oklahoma State took third with 97 points.
The 4x400m squad of Paje Rasmussen, Marianne Barber, Kali McEuen and Sami Oblad won the conference title, just shy of its personal best. The quartet was led off by Rasmussen, who opened with a 53.98 split. Barber followed with a 52.45 that would have been a career best in the open 400 meters. McEuen ran third and moved into third place with a 53.86. Nearly two seconds behind Texas Tech on the handoff, Oblad surged ahead late, passing the Red Raiders in 51.13 to anchor the lineup to the win.
