PROVO, Utah — No. 7 BYU men's volleyball is on the road this week for two MPSF contests against No. 18 Stanford on Friday and Saturday.

About the Cougars

BYU is coming off of two wins in California last week over UC Merced (3-0) and Jessup (3-1) to open MPSF play for the Cougars. BYU is now 15-4 this season, with its only losses coming to the No. 3 and No. 4 teams in the country.

The Cougars are led offensively by a duo of hitters who are both averaging more than 3.1 kills per set and are both hitting better than .330 in Trent Moser and Connor Oldani. Setter Tyler Herget has been getting them the ball effectively, averaging 10.22 assists per set. That's the seventh-best average nationally. Defensively, middle blocker Gavin Chambers in No. 9 nationally with 1.153 blocks per set.

BYU dropped from No. 6 to No. 7 in the AVCA polls this week.

About the Cardinal

Stanford has had an up-and-down season, with a record of 7-8. They are 4-0, however, in MPSF play, and all of Stanford's losses this season have come against nationally ranked opponents. Most recently, the Cardinal are coming off of two home sweeps last weekend over Saint Francis.

The Cardinal have faced six of the same opponents the Cougars have this season. While many of the results have been very similar, Stanford did lose one match to UC Santa Barbara, who BYU beat twice on the road.

Stanford is led by Moses Wagner who is averaging 3.12 kills per set. Kaumana Carreira leads the team in blocks. Alex Rottman has the team's best hitting percentage.

Series Snapshot

BYU leads the all-time series 35-18. The two squads faced each other three times last season, with the Cougars picking up two wins during the regular season in Provo and the Cardinal winning in the MPSF Tournament, ending BYU's season.
