FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jane Hedengren delivered a national title performance Friday, winning the 5000-meter at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center.

Jane Hedengren earned her first NCAA title in the 5000m, where she clocked a 15:00.12 to defeat Alabama’s defending champion Doris Lemngole by more than three seconds. The true freshman led through the final 4400m and closed with a final 400m of 64.43 seconds. Hedengren set a new facility record and earned First Team All-America honors with the finish. This marks BYU’s first indoor individual national title since Courtney Wayment’s 5000m performance of 15:30.17 in 2022.

Distance medley relay squad Taylor Rohatinsky, Sami Oblad, Tessa Buswell and Jacey Harkins-Farmer took sixth place to earn first-team All-America honors. The quartet clocked 10:52.14, kick-started by Rohatinsky’s 3:22.09 in the 1200m leg. Oblad followed with 53.70 in the 400m, and Buswell then clocked the fastest 800m leg in the 12-team field with 2:03.12. Harkins-Farmer anchored the lineup, closing in 4:33.24 in the 1600m leg.

Zoey Bonds earned Second Team All-America honors as she finished 10th in the pentathlon with 4,100 total points. The Las Vegas product took second in the 60m hurdles, crossing in 8.25. Bonds finished seventh in the high jump after she cleared 1.72m/5-7.75.

NCAA No. 1 miler Riley Chamberlain earned a trip to Saturday’s final as she clocked 4:28.96. Oblad earned second-team All-America honors with 51.88 to finish 12th in the preliminary round.

The Cougars sit fourth with 13 points. Illinois leads the team competition with 30, followed by Oregon with 20 and Florida with 14.
