PROVO, Utah – BYU makes its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament as the Cougars were named a six-seed in the West Region on Sunday evening during the NCAA Selection Show broadcast live on CBS.

The Cougars open play Thursday in Portland, Ore. against the winner of Texas and NC State in the Round of 64. The winner of Thursday’s game will play a second-round matchup on Saturday against the winner of Gonzaga and Kennesaw State.
BYU is 17-35 all-time in the NCAA Tournament including a 5-4 record as a six-seed. The Cougars have never played NC State or Texas in The Big Dance.
Game time and TV designations for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament will be announced later.
