PROVO, Utah — No. 27 men’s golf is prepared to tee off in Napa Valley, Calif. for the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational on March 23-24 at Silverado Country Club and Resort.
It marks the third consecutive season the Cougars will compete in this event. BYU secured the team title, and Cooper Jones notched the individual title in this tournament in 2024.
Last time out on the links, the Cougars finished third overall at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational. Freshman Kihei Akina won the individual trophy, while posting a 14-under 202, his personal best 54-hole score. In addition, Akina recorded a 64 in the final round, a career-low round, on his way to his first collegiate victory.
BYU will be part of a 14-team field in the event. In collaboration with the GCAA and PGA Tour’s Pathway to Progression, Central Michigan will host the Cougars, USF, North Carolina A&T, Howard, North Alabama, Florida A&M, Santa Clara, Cal Poly, UConn, UC Davis, Eastern Michigan, Hawaii and Tohoku Fukushi at Silverado CC.
BYU will roll out a lineup that includes Akina, Peter Kim, Simon Kwon, Tyson Shelley and Angus Klintworth. Klintworth will make his first start of the spring season, and his first start since The Bryson Invitational last October. Freshman Parker Bunn will play as an individual.
The Cougars will tee off for a 36-hole day in Napa Valley on Monday at 9:30 a.m. MDT. Follow live scoring on Scoreboard, with live updates on Instagram and X.
