INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA selections were announced Monday for the 2026 National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships regionals, and No. 24 BYU will compete in the Tempe Regional at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona.
"Going back to Arizona, a Big 12 school, will be great," head coach Guard Young said. "We went there earlier this season for a Big 12 meet and it's an easier travel for us. I love the matchups we are going to be in with Georgia, Michigan State and SUU."
This will be BYU’s 13th-straight NCAA Regionals appearance dating back to 2012. The Cougars have competed in the postseason tournament every season Big 12 Coach of the Year Guard Young has been with the program.
The Tempe Regional will host nine teams for the NCAA competition and run from Wednesday, Apr. 1-Sunday, Apr. 5. The Cougars will compete in their first meet on Thursday, Apr. 2 against No. 6 Georgia, No. 11 Michigan State and SUU at 2 p.m. MT.
The two teams facing off in a dual on Wednesday, Apr. 1 are Big 12 opponents Arizona State and Arizona. The winner of that competition will advance to a quad on Thursday, Apr. 2 at 8 p.m. MT against No. 3 Florida, No. 14 Cal and Penn State.

The three other 2026 regional sites are Lexington, Kentucky, Corvallis, Oregon and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The top 36 teams based on national qualifying score (NQS) were selected for regional competition. The NCAA selection committee identified the top 16 teams and seeded them in their specific brackets. Teams 17-36 were placed geographically at one of the four regional sites. All host teams stay home to compete, whether they are a top-16 seed or not. The top 12 all-around competitors and top 16 event specialists were selected based on national qualifying scores and will be placed geographically, keeping individuals from the same team together.
The National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships will consist of eight teams, four all-around competitors and 16 event specialists. The top two teams and the top all-around competitor (who is not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships. In addition, the top event specialist in each event (not on an advancing team or an all-around competitor) advances to the national championship (in that event only).
The top two teams from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships. In addition, the top all-around competitor and top event specialist from round two at each regional (who is not on a team advancing to nationals) will advance to the national championships. Event specialist qualifiers will only compete in the events they qualify for.
The national championships will take place April 16 and 18 in Fort Worth, Texas, at Dickies Arena.
