PROVO, Utah – BYU’s Robert Wright III has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.
The 2026 Academic All-District basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes the basketball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by the CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Tuesday, April 14.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be of a sophomore academic standing or higher with a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve for their team.
Wright III led the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive season as the sophomore averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He earned Third Team All-Big 12 honors after scoring in double figures 32 times, including 13 games with 20 or more points, highlighted by a career-high 39-point performance in an overtime win over Colorado.

His 632 points this season are tied for the 20th most points scored in a single season in program history. The native of Wilmington, Del. also had the 10th most assists in a season by a Cougar with 162, including a pair of games with double-digit assists.
