INDIANAPOLIS — BYU guard Delaney Gibb was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Players of the Week list, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced on Tuesday.
The sophomore out of Raymond, Alberta, Canada, turned in back-to-back 20-point performances, including an average of 18.5 fourth-quarter points on the week.
Gibb led the Cougars to wins over two bubble teams this week, first knocking off the Arizona State Sun Devils on Tuesday in Tempe, just ASU's second home loss of the season, before taking down the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday. The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 25 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks on the week to lead the Cougars to a 9-9 record and ninth-place finish in the Big 12, the highest finish since entering the league in 2023.
BYU was led by a game-high 24 points from Gibb, while she also totaled seven rebounds and six assists in the win over Arizona State. She also contributed two second-half steals and registered a pair of blocks in the comeback win over the Sun Devils. On senior day against the Buffs, the Canadian again led the game in scoring with 26 points. Gibb made winning plays all over the court with seven dimes, six rebounds, three coming on the offensive glass, and a steal and a block in the 13-point win.
Gibb's back-to-back 20+ point performances this week marked four-straight games with 20 or more points. Over the four-game stretch, the sophomore is averaging 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.3 blocks while knocking down 3.0 3-point field goals per game.
Of her 26.5 points, Gibb is making plays in winning time. She is averaging 19.8 points over the past four games in the second half alone. BYU's floor general went for 18 points after halftime, along with five dimes, two steals and a block in the second half to help BYU overcome a 13-point halftime deficit at Arizona State. She then posted 19 points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block climb out of a 10-point fourth-quarter hole to take down the Buffs by 13 on senior day.
Tomorrow, Gibb and No. 9-seed BYU take on the No. 16 Houston Cougars in the opening round of the 2026 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, March 4. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m. MT with the game streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast live on BYU Radio 107.9, byuradio.org and the BYU Radio App.
