BYU went 2-2 last week, grinding out an 8-5 win at Utah Valley down the road in Orem before dropping its series against Kansas, 2-1.

The Cougars took game two thanks to Danica Acosta's late game heroics as the sophomore walked things off with her first career home run. She also hit a second solo shot in as many days during game three on Saturday.

Senior Hailey Morrow and Acosta paced BYU offensively last week, hitting .500 and .467, respectively. Morrow also hit .556 in the series against the Jayhawks, with Acosta turning in a .417 clip.

The Cougars hit .292 on the week and .265 in the series, with Bre Townsend (.375) and Rita Tavita (.308) joining the pair with averages of .300 or better.

Defensively, BYU turned four double plays on the week, including a season-high three in game two against KU on Friday.

Hailey Shuler earned both of the Cougars' wins in the circle, tossing 13.2 of the team's 28 total innings and striking out four.

She posted a 5.12 ERA on the week, while Villegas posted a 4.57, together striking out seven, with Gianna Mares equaling their total.

Just under half way through Big 12 play, BYU ranks fifth in the Conference in both double plays (14) and double plays per game (0.42). The Cougars are also fifth in strikeouts per seven innings (4.93).

On the individual side, Ilove'a Brittingham (six runners caught stealing) and Villegas (three saves) are both second in the league. Villegas' save total ranks No. 15 nationally as well.

Heading out for games 30-32 away from Provo this season, BYU also makes its first trip to Lubbock in series history.
