RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico — Freshman golfer Kihei Akina is set to tee off for the Puerto Rico Open at Grand Reserve Golf Club on Thursday.

“My game feels good, and I’m excited to tee it up tomorrow,” Akina said. “It’s been a lot of fun this week so far, and I’ve got a great caddy in Coach Miller for the week.”

Current PGA Tour players and former BYU golfers Patrick Fishburn and Zac Blair will also be participating in Rio Grande. This will be Fishburn’s 61st PGA Tour appearance and Blair’s 227th appearance.  

“Fish and Blair are two people I look up to,” Akina said. “It’s cool to see some Cougars on the PGA TOUR and be able to interact with them.”
