BOISE, Idaho — Coming off their final regional dual matches of the season, the No. 56 ranked BYU Cougars will take part in the Boise State Spring Invitational this weekend at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club.
The six schools will be divided into two groups, with BYU competing in Bracket B alongside No. 65 Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Idaho Vandals. Bracket A will feature the hometown No. 66 Boise State Broncos, Idaho State Bengals, and the Montana Grizzlies.
The tournament will feature a round-robin format where each team will face the other two teams in its group to determine whether it will play in the first, third, or fifth-place match on Saturday.
BYU’s first match will be Friday morning at 10 a.m. against Gonzaga (5–2) before taking on Idaho (5–8) at 6 p.m.
Historically, the Cougars are 7–4 against Gonzaga but fell in the last two matches in 2023 and again at home in 2022 with a 4–1 loss. Gonzaga currently sits in third place in the West Coast Conference and is riding a five-match win streak that includes three tight 4–3 victories.
Against Idaho, BYU owns a 9–0 overall record and is the only program the Cougars are undefeated against when playing more than five times. The Vandals currently sit fifth in the Big Sky Conference standings and most recently fell to Gonzaga on Feb. 21.
There will be no livestream of the matches, but results can be followed on the tournament website.
