BOISE, Idaho — The Cougars fell in the title match of the Boise State Spring Invitational after a 4–2 loss to the hometown Boise State Broncos on Saturday.
In doubles play, the Broncos started the match with a commanding 6–1 win, but BYU was able to rally as Otto Schreiner and Adam Chodur, followed by Caden Hasler and Hardy Owen, both grabbed 6–2 wins to give the Cougars a 1–0 lead.
Singles play featured three-set finishes on all but one court. After BYU found itself down 2–1, Goldammer fell in his first singles loss of the season. He opened with a 6–4 win before losing 6–1 in each of the following two sets. Needing a point to stay alive, David Duong delivered a 6–1 win in the third set after recovering from a 6–0 loss in the second.
Down 3–2, Boise State Broncos clinched the tournament title with a 6–3 win over Chodur.
