PROVO, Utah — No. 27 BYU women’s tennis fell to No. 29 Arizona, 4-0, on Saturday morning at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts. The Wildcats secured the doubles point and clinched the match with three straight singles victories.
BYU opened the day with a strong showing in doubles. At the No. 1 position, Kendall Kovick and Gracie Levelston earned a 6-4 victory. Arizona responded with a 6-2 win over Bella Lewis and Sue Yan Tan at the No. 3 doubles position and secured the doubles point with a narrow 7-6 (7-2) victory over Sage Bergeson and YuYun Chen at No. 2.
In singles play, Arizona extended its lead with wins on the top three courts. Levelston fell 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, while Kovick dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision in her final home match at No. 2. Yan Tan battled at the No. 3 position but fell 6-4, 6-0 as the Wildcats clinched the match.
Three matches went unfinished. Chen split the first two sets at No. 4, falling 6-4 before responding with a 6-2 win in the second. At No. 5, Bergeson led 5-2 in the opening set, and Bella Lewis was tied 1-1 early at No. 6 when play was halted.
The match also marked Senior Day for Kovick, who concluded her final home appearance with a doubles victory alongside Levelston.
With the loss, BYU moved to 18-7 on the season, while Arizona improved to 19-8.
