SALT LAKE CITY – Kaiah Fisher set the No. 4 program mark in the discus as Mikensi Smith won two events at the Weber State and Utah Spring Classics on Saturday.
Weber State Spring Classic
Fisher moved up one spot on the program’s discus board, setting the No. 4 mark with her throw of 55.09m/180-9, which was more than 17 meters farther than the rest of the field. Jayda Lee followed behind Fisher in sixth, matching her best finish in the event this season.
Lia Katoa added another win for the throws group, launching a 57.34m/188-1.5 to win by more than 14 meters and notch her second victory in the event this season.
Smith won the 100-meter, crossing in 12.10. The finish marked Smith’s first collegiate victory. Lee finished third, and Kat Beachler set a new personal best with her 51.43m/168-8.5, earning fourth place.
Utah Spring Classic
The Yucaipa, Calif. native added another first-place finish in the 200m, crossing in 24.88, nearly one second ahead of the rest of the field. Madelynne Taggart took sixth in the 400m hurdles, clocking a 1:03.29.

The distance crew will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16-18, while jumps, hurdles and throws will compete at the Pacific Coast Invitational.
