PROVO, Utah – BYU head men’s basketball coach Kevin Young announced the signing of Collin Chandler on Saturday. Chandler returns to the Beehive State after playing the first two seasons of collegiate career at Kentucky.

“We are excited to welcome Collin and his wife, Hannah, to BYU," Young said. "His passion for the game and his ability to make winning plays all over the floor is going to make everyone around him better. He showed that he is one of the premier 3-point shooters in the country last season and wasn’t afraid to take and make big time shots.”

Chandler appeared in all 36 games for the Wildcats including 31 starts during his sophomore campaign where he averaged 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He also ranked second on the team with 44 steals.

The 6-foot-4 guard knocked down a team-high 73 3-pointers while shooting 41.0 percent from behind the arc. He scored in double figures 19 times including a career 23-point performance in a win over No. 25 Vanderbilt.

In SEC play, the Farmington native averaged 10.5 points per game while shooting a league-high 45.7 percent from 3-point range (Min. 42 3FGM). He knocked down three or more triples six times in conference play highlighted by a pair of six 3-pointer games against Vanderbilt and Georgia.

During his freshman season, Chandler saw action in 30 games off the bench. He scored 60 of his 82 points in the final 11 games of the season highlighted by a season-high 11-point performance in the season finale against LSU.

The former four-star recruit was named the Utah Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior after averaging 21.7 points. 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He was rated No. 32 by ESPN and No. 33 by 247Sports after concluding his high school career at Farmington High School with 1,587 points, 328 rebounds, 229 assists, 105 steals and 135 3-pointers.

Following his prep career, Chandler served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sierra Leone and London, England.
