PROVO, Utah – The Cougars’ distance athletes will compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa, Calif. on April 16-18.

The 3000-meter steeplechase athletes will compete on Thursday, with Taylor Lovell and Raygan Peterson competing in the invitational section. Lovell sits No. 3 on BYU’s program best list with a performance from last season, and this will be her first attempt at the event this season. Peterson recently posted the No. 8 best time in program history as she clocked a 9:55.03 to win the Stanford Invitational. Karissa Chamberlain, Emerald Kehr, Addie Meldrum and River White are also set to compete in the event.

Tessa Buswell is expected to lead the 800m group on Friday. The sophomore ran a 2:02.39 at the Stanford Invitational, which was the fastest time she has posted all season, including indoor. Elyse Jessen, Kylie Olsen, Krystie Solomon-Jensen and Anne Elise Packard will join her.

Jane Hedengren is set to compete in the outdoor 5000m for the first time. She owns the indoor 5000m NCAA record at 14:44.79, set in her debut at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in early Dec. Jenna Hutchins, Jacey Harkins-Farmer, Nelah Roberts, Taylor Rohatinsky and Raygan Peterson will also compete. Hutchins sits fourth-best in program history, running a 15:16.95 last season.

The 1500m group will compete on Saturday. Current school record holder Carlee Hansen-Thompson, No. 4-best Carmen Alder, No. 9-best Buswell and No. 10-best Rohatinsky will line up. They will be joined by Zariel Macchia and Grace Hutchison.
